The spending on online advertising has overtaken the spending on Television advertising for the first time and now accounts for approx 25% of all advertising.

Despite an overall drop in advertising spend, outlay for online advertising grew at nearly 5% between January and July according to a study by the Internet Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Technology firms appear to have grasped the importance of online advertising more than any other sector and now accounts for nearly 20% of the market.

Not to be left behind though small busainesses are also looking online for cheap advertising as long as it returns a good ROI.

A spokesman for the online business directory www.uksmallbusinessdirectory.co.uk who specialise in providing cheap, but effective online advertising says,

“Small business owners are beginning to realise that it isn’t wise to spend all their advertising budget in one place and to spread the costs over multiple more cost effective options. Without having to overspend or tie themselves in to long contracts it means the small business owner can experiment more and find the type of advertising that specifically suits their business and gives a good return of investment”

With online advertising continuing to increase the small business owner needs to educate himself about the different forms available, not be taken in by cold callers who promise the earth but to look around at the online advertising options available.

They wouldn’t go far wrong by starting their research here www.uksmallbusinessdirectory.co.uk/submitbus.asp
