Effective Keyword Research

Effective Keyword Research
By Norman McIver

When looking for “buyer” keywords there are a couple of things you want to take into account. One of the most important elements for many web designers is finding the right keywords to help your site not only rank well within both the major and minor search engines but also to target “buyer” traffic. Human traffic is made up of two elements:

1. “Browser” who is searching for either information or a free product.

2. “Buyer” people with a purpose of finding a particular products and purchasing it.

It would be fair to say that in today’s market economy, we want to target more “buyers” than “browsers”. But how do we do that and how do we do that for FREE.

If you’re not yet familiar with Google AdWords, here is a quick introduction to the concept of paying for traffic.

Google Adwords platform is used by many web designers and companies to bid on high market keywords. These keywords drive traffic to their sites and in turn, a percent of that traffic buy the companies product/s. But in order for people know which keywords to bid on they need to know which terms people are searching for the most.

Enter Google’s Keyword Tool.

Google’s Keyword Tool is a great little piece of engineering which scans through Google’s extensive network for your keyword term and relating keywords and tells you which keywords are being searched for the most, a comparison of the previous month’s figures, which month had the most searches surrounding your term, advertiser competition you would be competing against for that keyword plus cost to have an add running in first place for that keyword term.

Go to Google and search for Google’s Keyword Tool.

Now let’s say you have a site which deals with pet products. Let’s target one particular product like – flea treatments

Looking at the results returned two keywords jump out at me right away.

Fleas treatment natural
Natural cat flea treatment

When you look at the number of people searching for these terms you can tell that compared to others it gets the less amount of traffic…BUT, combined and used in your website and keyword and description tag it can land you a lot of traffic. They’re also 3 word Keywords. To some this is not very important, to me it’s important to use 3-4 keyword phrases as these phrases can sometimes have very little competitor traffic but a lot of search queries.

You can also tell looking at the Google’s Keyword Tool that the competitor’s for one keyword is very minimal while the other has practically nil. Once again to me this is a massive bonus as you can drive traffic to your site and also to the product which you have on offer. Not only can you use just these two keywords in your site and meta tags but also for your CPC campaigns if you decide to run any.

So in essence what we’ve done is use a free Keyword Tool from Google to search for a particular term, find related keywords and strip them down to two which will drive buyer traffic to your site looking for natural flea treatments. Google’s Keyword Tool is great for people who are looking for very basic information on keywords but is extremely limited in functionality. Unfortunately it doesn’t tell you which sites are using those keywords, which are ranking top, what campaigns are being run which are generating huge profits.

This is where Keyword Elite 2.0 comes in. Keyword Elite 2.0 not only searches Google but also Yahoo, Bing and Ask for keywords, but also shows pages ranking for those keywords, AdWords campaigns they’re using PLUS (and you’ll like this) will search affiliate networks based around your search term if you’re looking to sell products as an affiliate AND help you find content for your website….and these are just a few of the many functions it performs. Keyword Elite 2.0 is truly a machine worthy of any serious affiliate marketer’s or web designers attention.

Keyword Elite 2.0 The most comprehensive tool of it’s kind on the internet today.

New Keyword Analysis Tool

New Keyword Analysis Tool
By Jan Smith

Technology has come a long way in advancing the keyword analysis tools now available for internet marketers working on the internet.

Good keyword tools have become absolute necessities for anyone serious about analyzing keywords to earn a living off the internet. Even when you have two or three good reliable keyword tools to assist you in your keyword search, there is no way that I wouldn’t compare the data with the biggest keyword tool of all and that is Google’s own AdWords tools

It’s not until you start seriously analyzing which words people actually use when they search for something on the internet that you realise everyone doesn’t ask the search engines in the same way you do; or use the same words that you use.

In fact, there are some word combination’s that are an absolute scream and you would never think of using the words in that combination. For some reason, people seem to ‘talk’ to the search engines as if they were more than a little dyslexic.

For some reason, most internet users disregard the fact that the search engines are logical computations. They are programmed logic.

In some instances for some requests I’ve come across, its become a whole new language and without a good keyword tool there is no way this side of the black stump would I ever have thought to use words like that. The interesting thing is that it’s not usually just one request. The really surprising thing is that quite often, they will have a lot of users searching for the same thing using those keyword combination’s.

Without my good keyword analysis tools to keep me amused and updated and simply amazed, I wouldn’t have nearly as much fun in my day-to-day life on the internet

Do you want to claim your FREE Keyword Analysis tool to spy on all your competitors to see if they making money from their PPC ads? Then just click here immediately http://www.assistingaffiliates.com and be prepared for a surprise!

Wordpress 2.5.1 not getting indexed by google

I have so far upgraded 2 Wordpress blogs today, made a post afterwards, pinged google, but neither has been indexed in blog search yet.

Prior to upgrading to Wordpress 2.5.1 a new post would be indexed in google blog search within 2 minutes, this is a 3rd upgrade to see if this post gets picked up.

Update: Obviously not a Wordpress problem, this post was picked up within a minute.

What is linkbaiting

I was having a discussion the other day with some mates in the pub who wondered what exactly it was I did.

They knew I worked from home doing webwork, but most thought that meant I just sold things on ebay!!

I tried to explain that I was an SEO and that I built websites with the intention of them appearing high in the search engines, but this went straight over their heads.

I then started talking about the tactics used to get these rankings and other ways of generating traffic even when the rankings weren’t as high as needed, again this went straight over their heads.

When I moved on to talking about keyword research, content writing, link building, referrer spamming and linkbaiting the blank looks made me realise I was wasting my time trying to explain any further.

The next time when I tell someone I do webwork and sell online, they ask if I am on ebay, I think I’ll just nod and say yes.
