Everytime
Gets to me everytime.
Gets to me everytime.
Switched on my PC yesterday, got to the Windows start screen, then nothing else. I managed to start via safe mode, adjusted a few settings but still no joy.
This got me thinking about backing up, something I have been a bit lapse about recently. I spent a few hours sorting out my important folders and transfering them to some spare webspace, to my laptop, and to a spare PC I use for storage.
In a way, I am glad this PC started playing up, it gave me a reminder about backing up and at least gave me a warning rather than just dieing on me.

I was contacted over the weekend by a Scottish Recruitment Website who were trying to improve their online presence and make people aware of their Scottish Jobs Search facility.
Their website is relatively new but already appears to be quite popular and has had in excess of 10,000 visitors in it’s first few months of being online.
It is easy to see why it has become so popular so quickly as it has a nice crisp clear look to the site, the backend system works seamlessly, and it already has a number of major Scottish employers signed up on it’s books.
Scottish jobseekers are registering on a daily basis and many are making use of the new jobs by email service ScottishCareers4U provides.

Went and had a look at Twitter this evening with the view to joining to find out what it is all about. First thing I did was check the TOS and read number
3. You are responsible for keeping your password secure.
Nothing unusual in this, I’m pretty sure Gmail, Yahoo and all others say the same.
So why after signing up are we then taken to a screen asking for our web based email addresses; gmail, yahoo, aol etc. and also asked for the passwords?
I wonder how many twitters provided this information and probably broke the TOS of their web based email provider by ding so?
I’m not particularly a football fan, stopped going to live matches in the late 80’s early 90’s, but still follow it a little bit on the telly.
Yesterdays sickening injury to Arsenal player Eduardo da Silva is one of those things that happens in football every now and then that you remember for a long time (I still remember David Busst playing for Coventry against Man Ud).
In the aftermatch interviews Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger made a statement about the tackle fom Martin Taylor which broke Eduardo da Silvas leg, and claimed he had intentionally set out to injure Eduardo, and that he should never play football again. I thought at the time this was a bit harsh and after seeing a video of the Eduardo da Silva injury was even more convinced. It looked to me jus like a clumsy tackle and didn’t look like a malicious deliberate attempt to hurt Eduardo.
It was understandable that Wenger was upset and he made the comment straight after the match in the heat of the moment, I still felt it was wrong though.
Watching Match of The Day on the BBC later in the evening I was pleased to see that after cooling down and after having time to consider things further, Wenger now regrets his initial comments and had now withdrawn his comments that Birmingham defender Martin Taylor to be banned for life.
I’ve never particularly liked Wenger, but I think what he has done here is great and he has gone up in my estimations, you can understand him making the comments in the heat of the moment, but after cooling down he now accepts he shouldn’t have made the comments.
In my oppinion Wenger comes out of this a better man, as does football in general.
I just hope now that Eduardo has a speedy recovery and also hope that it doesn’t effect Martin Taylor too much.
Found some old photos whilst clearing through some draws last night and one of them was a picture of me in The Stratford Herald after winning my award for Offensive player of the year from when I used to play American football for The Stratford Tempest American Football Team
This got me searching on google only to be dissapointed to find not a single mention of them despite the fact the team was in existence for over 5 years and played games throughout the country.
This got me thinking about throwing up a little website about them and writing about how they were formed, how they progressed from playing touch football with no kit, to being a fully kitted team playing games as far afield as Newmarket, Chiltern, Exeter, Bath and more.
I started the site last night, and over the coming weeks will try to add more from memory. If any ex players, coaching staff or anyone connected with the team reads this, please get in touch.
Built the first 8 pages of a brand new site for Sim Free Mobile Phones tonight. Doubt I will find the time to do anymore to it this year, but at least it is set up for 2009
It looks like Venue Finder a system devised to help locate UK Conference Venues will be launched in early 2008.
I have been working with a number of experienced conference agents to create Venue Finder, a system which combines an extensive database of over 11,000 UK venues with the expertise and know how of experienced conference agents.
Where Venue Finder differs from most online venues directories is by the fact it does not rely on a totally automated system, the conference agent imputs the customers required needs and knows within minutes which suitable venues are available on the required dates.
Had to have a little laugh at this.

The story itself is not funny, some poor old dear being scammed out of her life savings, but what was amusing was the naevity of the Policemans comment at the end of the story.
“Pc Carpenter urged people not to fall for similar scams and said:
“My advice is if in doubt, leave it out. If you suspect anything,
don’t open it, delete it.
“If it’s suspect, it’s suspect. If there’s any element of doubt,
if it seems too good to be true, it usually is.”
He also advised anyone who receives a scam
e-mail to contact Crimestoppers.”
So there you go, advice from the UK police, next time you receive a scam email let Crimestoppers know.
Bet they will love that ;o)
