Jammie Dodgers With White Fondant and Round Middle

I don’t know if I am imagining it, but I’m sure when I was a kid Jammie Dodgers had white fondant as well as jam in them and also had a round middle rather than a heart.

I always used to have them at my grans house, usually from one of those square metal selection boxes, those, the pink wafers and the chocolatr bourbons were always first to go.

Can anyone else remember Jammie dodgers with the white cream in, or am I just imagining it?

Cluster Fly Control Bucks

I added a new section to one of the pest control sites tonight for Cluster Fly Control Bucks

Typically Cluster Flies will find warm places to over-winter. It is not unusual for people to go to their attic in search of Christmas decorations, only to be confronted by a swarm of flies covering an entire wall (Cluster Flies are also known as Attic Flies). They also congregate around windows and doorframes.

Flasher bitten by dog – quote of the day

After a 60 year old lady’s pet dog bit a flasher on the upper right arm in the North Cotswold town of Moreton-in-Marsh, a policeman handling the case said,

“Naturally because of the nature of the incident, we are keen to hear about anyone seen with a dog bite on his right arm in the last 24 hours.”

Will Marks and Spencer apologise to Interflora ?

It is still to be decided in court as to whether Marks and Spencer have infringed Interflora trademark by bidding on the keyword in Google AdWords.

Whether they have or not though, some people still think it is unethical of them to deliberately use the Interfora trademark in this way (if they have).

I dare say the AdWords campaign was set up by someone pretty low in the chain at Marks & Spencer or even an outside agency, and this is probably an embarrassment for those higher up.

I would like to think that those higher up in M & S will see just how unethical this looks and will apologise to Interflora, unfortunately, in this day and age, that will be probably seen as an acceptance of guilt and mean a field day for the lawyers.

I would like to be a fly on the wall if Marks & Spencer do investigations about who actually set the AdWords campaign up, and if it was an outside agency I would like to know who.

Will Marks and Spencer apologise to Interflora? I doubt it, but it is a nice thought, and would be even nicer if they made a donation to Breast Cancer Care as both companies appear to support similar charities, they would rise in my estimations if they did, I might even do my Christmas shopping there if they do.

Why Is There Never a Consistent Price For Scrap Metal?

The price of scrap metal fluctuates like the price of any commodity, but it’s easy to see if the price of scrap metal is high if you know what you are looking for.

Every now and again you see those annoying little signs on every other lampost and every traffic light that you stop at. They read “We pay cash for your scrap car,” and are put there by people who don’t think that your car is going to have the ability to pull away from the lights and you will therefore ring their mobile phone number to take it off your hands.

When these signs start appearing you know that the scrap price is high. A few years ago there was a plague of signs and flyers on windscreens as the price of scrap metal went sky high and every landscape gardener and tree surgeon who could transport a car suddenly changed their profession to scrap metal, and their deals always look attractive on the flyer.

What the customer has to realise is that these dealers will be gone once the price starts to drop and are not in the business to build a reputation, they’re in it for the quick buck before they move on, which is why you are always better dealing with established scrap car dealers.

The reason that the price soared that time was due to the Olympic Games, as China was the host and they needed all of the metal they could lay thier hands on to fuel their economy, and to build the Olympic facilities.

But you don’t have to wait for the next Olympics to sell your old car, you can contact a reputable scrap car dealer and they will give you a fair price and take it away and dispose of it legally for you. Scrap Car Uk

HomeServe – Severn Trent Letter

I received a letter from Severn Trent this morning,

“As a valued Severn Trent customer, HomeServe are delighted to provide you with cover for water suppy pipe emergencies absolutely FREE for 2 months, with no obligation to continue at the end of the free period”

All sounds very good, free cover with no obligation to continue.

Until you read lower down in the letter,

“After the 2 months FREE period your cover will automatically expire. Before the end of this period you will be invited to take out cover. Should you not want this valuable cover, simply call HomeServe Free on 0800 408 0368 or return the Policy Schedule to the Freepost HomeServe address shown below and your cover will be cancelled.”

So which is it?

After 2 months the cover expires and we pay nothing?

We have to call HomeServe to cancel the cover?

It may just be a case of a badly worded letter, but when that telephone call comes inviting you to take out cover, be very careful that you listen to exactly what they say and don’t get talked in to taking out the cover if you don’t want it.

With my cynical hat on, I wonder if the call will go something along the lines of,

“Hello, you currently have free HomeServe emergency cover, would you like that cover to continue?”

I assume if you reply “yes please” you will automatically be signed up to the paid plan, so be careful how you answer.

Are we too complacent with external scripts on our websites

After Google went down for some of us in the UK today it makes you wonder if we are getting to complacent when using external scripts on our websites.

The fact Google went down wasn’t too big a worry, but the fact it stopped my websites which have google buzz buttons and google adsense from loading was.

It made me think about other buttons and external scrips I am using this includes things like twitter, facebook, disqus, digg etc.

Most of the time these are OK, but this scare with google makes you think, could just ione of those services being down result in our pages not loading correctly?

Time to rethink whether it is really woth using social networking buttond maybee?
