Our Services We are experienced tree surgeons in Rochester, covering the South East.If you require a friendly, fully qualified team of tree surgeons, A Cut Above Tree Services Ltd offer an excellent quality service. This quality carried out consistently over the past ten years has seen us entrusted to work on many high profile protected tree''s for a range of clients including our Local Authority, the local Park Rangers and The Kent Wildlife Trust. This is not to say that we only work on big tree''s. Our staff are happy to carry out work on anything that grows. Being able to offer the best advice for each individual specimen followed by relevant work. We are proud to have highly trained and skilful staff, which means we offer a safe and reliable service. With our wealth of experience and our emphasis on safety and customer service, we believe our company is a cut above the rest. Planting- We are more than happy to carry out planting jobs. We actively encourage the replanting of removed tree''s. We have considerable experience planting and past jobs have included everything from a single feature/specimen tree to a natural/native hedge that required 450 mixed tree''s. Climbing Inspections- Sometimes you may need someone to take a closer look at your tree for you. It could be to look for a suspected bat roost, some storm damage or signs of decay/ ill health that concerns you. Our climbers have the training and experience to do this for you. Not only will we climb the tree for you but we will provide photographs of anything we feel you may need to see, and be able to advise you on the correct path of action to take should any be needed. Dead Wood- It is a perfectly natural process for tree''s to carry deadwood. However the worry of falling branches means that it is sometimes necessary to remove the major dead wood from tree''s. If your tree is protected you do not need local authority consent to have dead wood removed so this is a hassle free job that gives you peace of mind. Crown Lifting- The removal of the lower branches on a tree. If you have a tree which borders the local footpath/highway then the branches should be lifted to 3m above ground level over the footpath and 5m over the highway. Crown lifting a tree often has the effect of making an area feel more light and spacious. Crown Thinning- The removal of selected secondary branches to reduce canopy density. The end result allows more dappled sunlight through the tree.It also reduces the sail effect of the tree in windy weather. This does not change the size/shape of the tree at all. Crown thinning is not suitable for conifers. Crown Reduction- This is the reducing and reshaping of the tree''s canopy and results in a smaller tree. Some tree''s are more suitable for reductions than others. Our well trained team have years of experience and can best advise what is most suitable for each individual tree. Pollarding- The removal of the entire canopy leaving only the stem/frame of the tree remaining. Pollarding should only be carried out as part of a pruning programme as re-pollarding is needed at least every 5 years. Felling/Dismantling- Sadly we understand it is sometimes necessary to take down tree''s. Our operatives can carry out a broad spectrum of felling and dismantling operations. We have taken down tree''s in just about every situation and way possible using rigging systems ,cranes and MEWP''s (mobile elevated work platform) along the way. Conifer Reducing/Trimming- At "A Cut Above" we reduce conifers to the highest possible standard. When conifers are reduced they have to be cut flat on top because of the way they grow (they are not suitable for reshaping like broad leaves). With a regular maintenance programme conifers can provide beautiful borders/hedges. Badly pruned conifers will not grow back well and can become an eye sore.
