Trager Therapy was pioneered in the 1950''s in America by a medical doctor and physical therapist called Milton Trager. His work started to help people with physical limitations, paralysis and mobility problems. As his work developed he found that well people enjoyed the benefits of more co-ordinated movement, relaxation and wellbeing that came from the treatments. Neil Bayfield aswell as being a dancer and musician is a fully qualified Trager Practitioner which has entailed a number of years of study around the world. The benefits of the Trager Therapy are feelings of relaxation and wellbeing, reduced stress and reduced or eliminated aches and pains, but have to be felt to be believed as words alone don''t really do the experience justice. Throughout the approximately 1.5 hrs session the client remains fully clothed and no lotions are used. The client lies on a padded comfortable massage couch and the practitioner gently rocks, compresses and stretches the clients body maintaining comfort and ease at all times. The standing portion of the treatment involves teaching the client pleasant self-care movements called mentastics that have been likened to movements similar to tai-chi with the addition of pleasurable imagery to help seal in the relaxation so that the client will be enabled to use the movements again to re-experience the pleasant sensations of the session. This is to help them produce more mind-body unity in an ongoing way by themselves. Neil sees clients from Aberdeen, Inverurie, Stonehaven, Banchory, Ballater and Alford.
