Japanese Knotweed is now a major environmental problem in the UK and is controlled under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, which makes it illegal to spread or to encourage its growth. It is also classified as a controlled waste under the Environmental Protection Act 1991. It has previously been difficult to treat effectively, however the Land Clinic staff has developed an on-site treatment process for Japanese Knotweed which we know to be the most cost effective option available. Each project is site specific and our in-house specialist team would carry out a full site survey to establish the full extent of the infestation and the volumes to be treated. Our expertise in identifying the plant from its rhizomes allows us to establish the accurate rather than potential extent of the plant. A working plan is then drawn up based on the former and proposed use and design, eg, residential development, build layout, foundation design, public open space etc. We have developed and applied this treatment system over the last decade to the satisfaction of a long list of clients, and it is has been shown that our on-site treatment results in significant cost savings of over 60% of the standard disposal options. Our process also significantly reduces the programme for eradication, and we can offer long term monitoring, as well as guarantees and warranties should they be required. The Land Clinic''s has a full mobile waste management licence [No. EAWML/50420] issued by the Environment Agency covering all our Environmental Services.
