Piano Lessons in Largs

Hi, my name is Colin Young and I offer piano lessons in Largs. When I take on a new student I want to make them a musician, not just a piano player. My philosophy and ideas behind my lessons are: Keep lessons fun whilst still teaching the essential techniques and knowledge to build musicianship. Personalised learning is key to getting the most out of my students. I love to hear what the pupils would like to learn instead of just the next piece in the book and offer the best guidance I can. Nobody ever stops learning. I still get lessons and know exactly how it feels to sit in the student chair. Learning music should be a life long experience. Multiple musical genres is the key to fully understanding music. I've played in rock/pop bands, wind and brass bands, orchestras and pit bands and I believe that helps me pass wisdom onto my students. Why stop at using the piano? To help teach all round musicianship I use games, technology and percussion instruments to help drive home concepts. Teaching methods change. I always look for what is new, and working, in relation to musical pedagogy to ensure that I'm delivering the best to my pupils I will gladly offer piano tuition to children and adults. It doesn't matter if you want lessons for casual playing or if you would like to work your way through the ABRSM exams, I would be delighted to help. I teach piano from the house and offer 30 minute, 45 minute and 1 hour less depending on age and requirements.
