Best Friends provides a high quality, professional dog training and behaviour service to dog owners across Yorkshire. Jan Westby is a qualified trainer, with over 20 years experience in helping people understand and train their pet dogs. A founder member of and assessor for the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, Jan also has a Diploma in Companion Animal Behaviour and Training and a Certificate for Teachers and Trainers of Adults and believes firmly in kind, fair effective training which is dog and people friendly. Techniques which involve the use of coercion, either physical or mental, or fear or pain are never part of the Best Friends approach. Owners are taught how their pet learns, what normal dog behaviour is and how to use this knowledge to teach their dog the skills needed for them to be a happy, sociable, well-controlled family pet. Small, friendly, group classes are offered at venues in Ilkley and Bradford and Jan is also happy to do home visits for 1-1 training or help with problem behaviour.
