As a doula I offer emotional and practical support to the birthing mother and her partner regardless of age, sexuality, race or religion. I know that having a baby can sometimes be a very scary experience, whether it is your first or your fifth, but with the right support and information I believe birth can be an empowering experience. By bringing your anxiety about the birth down, with information and support we can help to create a positive and enriching birth experience. After a *free* initial meeting (I can also offer to do this via Skype if this would be easier for you) If you decide to go ahead and book my services, I offer full phone and e-mail support, I will do at least two antenatal visits, where we can talk about your past birth experiences (if applicable) and discuss what you are hoping for this time around. I will then (If you would like) assist you to write your birth preference plan so that your wishes are clear. I will be on 24 hour call for you from 10 days before your due date (this can be changed if needed) to 14 days after. (I will of course come to your birth if at all possible outside of these dates) I will come to you when you are in labour, as soon as you feel you need me, and go as soon after the birth of your baby as you are comfortable with (usually after the first feed). Then I will do one or two postnatal visits so that we can talk through your birth and I can answer any questions you may have. If you choose to breast feed your baby I am a Le Leche League & NCT breastfeeding peer supporter and am happy to support you to establish breastfeeding. Although I will of course support you in whatever way you chose to feed your baby. I will also take photos of the "new" family after birth and even the birth itself if you would like me to. (Permission has to be obtained from the hospital if you would like the birth to be photographed)
