Elaine @ Our Babes doula service provides a personal support and information service to anyobe ho request it. From the day you realise you are pregnant, through the sick days, preparing for birth, during your labour, and after your baby is born you will be faced with important decisions, and feeling excited and maybe even overwhelmed. A doula doesn''t make your decisions for you, and definately doesn''t judge or disapprove of your choices. Nor does a doula have medical training etc, that is why you usually have a midwife. A doula allows you to feel confident in your decisions, privides up to date evidence based information, and helps with communication. Where does the Father/birth partner fit in? Well they might want a break, or to use the loo. Fathers can sometimes feel overwhelmed by the medical aspect or worried about a homebirth. A doula is also there for partners, and the wider family.
