With venues in Central Edinburgh and Central London Stringers music shop offers a comprehensive service to all string players from beginner to professional.Maureen Morrison (née Stringer) founded Stringers of Edinburgh in 1992 and opened Stringers in London in 2007.As a professional ''cellist, teacher and parent of young string players she wanted to create a centre of excellence for string players of all levels in a pleasant, relaxed environment. All members of Stringers staff are proficient string players and are happy to help and advise when required. Our fine strings department comprises instruments (violins, violas, cellos and double basses), bows and accessories for advanced students and professionals and all of the instruments are set up by our consultant restorers and are played by our staff before going on sale. Our spacious studios are available by appointment and instruments and bows may be taken out on approval upon payment of a modest insurance fee. Our educational / student department caters for less advanced players of all ages. At Stringers we recognise that buying an instrument can be a daunting experience. Most of our staff are former string teachers and can therefore provide assistance and support to students, parents and less experienced adults.Both branches of Stringers music shops have dedicated on site workshops and offer a bow rehairing service.
