Acting As A Business: These Workshops aim to provide a comprehensive guide on how to be a ''working'' actor. They are aimed at student''s who are studying Performing Arts, Acting or Theatre Studies at G.C.S.E, A.S, A2, Diploma or Degree level. This one day course looks at how to become a ''Working Actor'' and covers every aspect of the business side of acting and the varied areas of creative employment! What We Cover: Equity/Spotlight: A look at Equity and Spotlight, who are they and what do they do. Do I need to be a member? How do I become a member? Performance CV''s, Head Shots, and Covering Letters: What is a Performance CV and how do I do one? What makes a good headshot? Who do I write to and what do I put in a covering letter? Getting An Agent: Do I need an agent? How do I find an agent? Who is the right one for me and my skills? What should I pay them? Avoiding the ''Con Artists''! Self Employment: A brief look at basic book keeping, tax, insurance and the pro''s and con''s of being self employed. Finding Work: An in depth look at the varied employment for actors including alternative acting jobs, i.e Murder Evenings, Race Days and jobs that are flexible enough for actors to still persue their career. Making Contacts: A brief look at networking, the internet and un-paid work. TV Castings and Theatre Auditions: How do I prepare and what can I expect at a casting or audition?
