Has EE Had a Data Breach

I must admit, I’m in a bit of a mess with EE an appear to have numerous accounts, mainly due to buying different PAYG phones over the years.

This has further been confused more as my main broadband account is with BT who have now merged with EE

Whilst trying to top up an old EE PAYG phone yesterday it asked me to login to EE

I tried this with one email address and sent a password reminder.

All fine, I got an email from no-reply@info.ee.co.uk titled Here’s your EE passcode

I logged in OK was then asked to link my device to my account, but when attempting to do this I received a message saying “this device is linked to another account”

I logged out and repeated the steps with a different email address, reset password, tried to link device, but got same message that it is linked to another EE account.

I’ve obviously got a 3rd EE account that this phone is linked to, but gave up trying

The following day (today) I received another email supposedly from EE, BUT I noticed it was slightly different

It said from EE Limited and was titled Your Password

I hovered over the link and saw a dodgy looking domain in the status bar – so-osteo.ch so checked the headers to see it was from info@hengdian.co.jp

I’ve never had a fake or phishing email supposedly from EE before, so it seems incredibly strange I get one the day after trying to do EE password reminders

Coincidence or has EE had a data breach or been hacked?

If anyone has had similar, let me know in comments below
